Ruach (hebr. wind or breath) is used in the Bible for the Holy Spirit (Holy Breath) - which according to Genesis gives us humans life!
The Spirit still roams the earth wanting to be the comforter, encourager and challenger whom Jesus promised Him to be. He longs to inspire us, enthuse us and empower us to be the people we were designed to be - reaching our full potential in Him.
But what kind of sail are you putting up to catch this wind?
- Is it in good shape?
- Has it got holes in? Is it hanging in tatters?
- Maybe you’ve just got some wire mesh up - it’ll blow straight through!
- Maybe you got your sail up alright, but it’s not facing the right way.
What a waste. The Holy Spirit is blowing, but your sail isn’t ready.
Don’t miss this wind. Don’t get the oar out. Forget the engine.
All you need is Him.

This was something that came to Michl when he was in tears during the worship yesterday it hit him with such power. Truly inspired. It is hard to understand how people can know all this and still not be bothered to just put out their sail and allow God to do the work required in their lives by the Holy Spirit. We are all guilty of it on different levels but it just robs us of experiencing the sailing experience, and Michl wrote reaching out full potential and having his comfort, guidance and peace. People can know God but still not really know him as they are not willing just to put out their sail. Very sad.

I have a pendant necklace which is a picture of a yacht in full sail. I bought it several years ago to remind me of the promise Holy Spirit made to me. Letting God be the wind in your sails can be scary-exciting. I have had many experiences of and with Holy Spirit. In the truly awful times God has been so close to me and seen me through. In the good times He is still so close -sometimes I feel I can reach out and touch Him. He often reaches in and touches me! I couldn’t live without Him. Let’s go sailing!
