Well with only 3 days of 2006 to go its gets you to thinking of what has happened in the last year. It also hopefully get you looking forward to new prospects and plans in the New Year. It’s great to get a new prospective on things. I suppose a lot has happened in the last year good and bad, and things are happening at Morecambe Community Church. Our centre West End IMPACT is just going from strength to strength and more and more people are coming through the door. Over Christmas we had over 100 different people through the door for one reason or another. All admiring our new wooden floor, which we were able to lay because of funding from the Gilbraith Trust. We fed 42 people at our Christmas meal for those alone or homeless. Jill and Ian supplied the 24 lb turkey and made a wonderful spread. We had a £5 token from Sainsbury’s to buy the mince pies, but hey never mind. We also had 47 people from age 2 to 77 at our Christmas party and we started to realise that soon we may need a bigger venue.
We are soon about to unveil our amazing new window display (compliments of VUE cinema Lancaster. Thank YOU) As we have a new venture starting in 2007. Our ‘Expectations’ parent cafe will be lauched on the 9th January. This will be a great relaxing place where parents can just go and chill, with or without children and gain parenting skills and advice if they need it. We are also having a marriage enrichment seminar on the 7th and 14th February, taken from the book ‘The 5 love languages’. This is the second time we have run this seminar as the first time was so successful. This time we have tagged a lovely meal to end for added romance and enjoyment. So lots to look forward to in the new year, and lets remember that as we live out our faith in God and keep our relationship with God the main thing, we can reach out into the community knowing that God will reach others through us. All the best for 2007 and do drop in on us sometime, either @ West End Impact 12 Heysham Road or on Sunday for our 10.30 am service at Lancaster and Morecambe College Sports Centre. God Bless you all. (PS our service is @ West End Impact on the 31st Dec as college is shut) See you there if you dare. MCC is no normal church you know its quite extraordinary!! We never know what is going to happen next.

Yesterday we fed over 40 people on the margins of society at West End Impact. I know that for most of those people this will not be a joyful, peaceful Christmas. People are lonely, hurting, confused, desperate, sick, and some people are just tied up with presents and who’s going to cook the biggest Christmas dinner. What kind of Christmas are you really having? One with the relatives that you really don’t get on with and only see once a year because its Christmas, and you just hope auntie Mabel doesn’t start that same old arguement with cousin Jack. Well take time this year to think about what Christmas is really all about, yes it’s about giving, it’s about having family fun, but it’s seems to have turned into one of the most stressful times of year where everybody goes mad to buy the latest thing and kids go crazy if they don’t get what they wanted. Take time to think about the first CHRISTmas and what it meant. It was when God became man. God came to earth as a baby. God became dependant on a mother and father, a helpless babe. He left his throne and came to share in the suffering in this world. To experience sadness and hurting, and sorrow. But he came to bring hope and a way back to God for all of us. People have chosen to turn their back on God time and time again, but you know 2007 could be a better year for you if you don’t turn your back on him. Let him into your Christmas spare God a thought this Christmas and try and discover more about why he came. God has so much he wants to give us this Christmas, peace in our heart, hope for the future, love in abundants, joy never ceasing, knowing why we are here on earth and realising who created us and how much he cares for us. Don’t turn your back on all that God has to offer you this Christmas!! go to www.mcc.uk.com gospel pure and simple to find our more. I wish you all a joyful, peaceful Christmas and May 2007 be the best year ever for you!!
It was reported today that a vicar in dorset has banned Father Christmas from Church.
In a world were most people would rather celebrate Winterville. And realistically most people are more likeley to go to church to see santa than meet with jesus.
Were should we draw our lines do you believe its wrong for christians to do the Santa thing?
