Many of us living in the Morecambe area believe there are encouraging signs that Morecambe’s regeneration is kicking in: The Midland Hotel being restored, funding to rebuild some schools in the area, Splash Park in Happy Mount Park, Sandy Beaches and sea defence work, to name but a few. Yet at virtually the same time the council withdraws its guarantee for the Winter Gardens redevelopment loan (a key venture for Morecambe’s regeneration) and grants licence to an all-nude lap-dancing club! It’s appalling to allow a back-alley business onto the promenade, which is currently developed so that families can enjoy sandy beaches. Once the sex-industry gets wind that Morecambe’s council is open for its kind, it won’t be long before we have sex shops, peep shows and so on at our doorsteps. There are also a few empty hotels around…!
Please Council, rethink! Make the decision to turn Morecambe into a family friendly, seaside resort and boldly stick with it: close “The Office”. Your people will thank you for it.

How do people perceive the church? How people perceive the church is how they perceive Christians. The church in many cases is no longer the relevant, leader of society that God intended it to be. The church should be on the cutting edge of society. When we look at some of the best artists that were, Michael Angelo for example, was made famous for his artwork in the church. Was it Sir Issac Newton who was also a Christian? The church was full of people who were on the cutting edge of society. The church was leading, changing and shaping society and the way it was going. Today the church is, at best, just about keeping up the pace, like a water skier on the back of a boat. Are we really shaping and making a difference in our community and on society itself? We need to get rid of our Holy cows, we need stop all this religion and tradition that hinders us, and stops us from moving forward. The church should stop living in the past and move faster than society itself. The church is a movent not an institution. We need to be continually changing. God is the same yesterday today and forever and in this ever changing society we can depend on that, but God wants us to FOLLOW Him (it’s a movement), not STAND BY him. Jesus is calling us to ever change, be transformed, become more like Him, move forward on the journey, move into his purposes and on the great adventure that being a Christian is. It isn’t always easy, in fact it’s very hard sometimes, but it’s worth it and it’s exciting.
