Hi, I’m Matt, the guy that set up the blog for Morecambe Community Church.
This is just a quick post to let our readers know that we have installed a program which should help block spam comments being left. Over the past few days we have seen an increasing number of these comments, and we don’t really want our site being used as a marketing tool for gambling sites!
From now on, when you leave a comment you have to copy a code from the screen into a new field on the comments form. This code cannot be read by the automated programs these spammers use, so it ought to stop the spam.
Please accept our apologies for having to jump through an extra hoop just to comment. We will be monitoring how much of a success this measure is, and we will re-evaluate it in the future. We do value your comments, so please don’t be too put off by it!
Well another step in the wrong direction for society happened just a couple of days ago. We all know it’s going on, gay couples are living together. It doesn’t mean that we have to make it legal, acceptable and normal though. I really feel that whoever you are no matter what your beliefs are, there is a gut wrenching feeling deep down inside that this is wrong. It just goes against the laws of creation, if we were all in gay relationship eventually we won’t exist, as there would be no reproduction. Unless, of course, we just have test tube babies which would bring up all kinds of other issues. What happened to a good old fashioned mum, dad and children family? We all have to admit the problems that are accuring because good old family values and committment in marriage are getting thrown out the window.
Why do we have to be so tolerable of everything. I am not saying we shouldn’t love gay people just like anyone else, but we are expected as British Citizens to tolerate so much and then it becomes legal. Did this used to be a ‘Christian’ country, what is happening to our values? When will murder be an acceptable thing, is it only a matter of time???Well I suppose it is already acceptable when you are fighting for democracy in a country, is it? Sorry if I sound as if I’m on my soap box, but I see the only way forward is to get back to where all our values should and did, come from and that is the Bible, it’s a well know historical fact that when this country was living by Biblical values it was a much better place. Not all too long ago either. I’ll get off my soap box now. Well Elton John you’re a great musician and we love you, may God bless you, but I don’t think He will bless your marriage, it’s not a marriage made in heaven.
After a fantastic Xmas Factor service, I have been wondering about the X Factor. People spend so much of their lives on a hamster wheel. Michl said on Sunday “what’s your life all about?” People are searching for something that’s not there.
But Jesus is there and that’s why he has that X Factor. Last year I stood in front of the christmas tree and all I wanted was a baby. What i got was expensive perfume and another scarf (sorry Neil)
But a year on I have a beautiul three month old baby in bed upstairs. A Medical miracle when the consultant says impossible the man with the x factor says nothing is impossible.
I challenge you: this christmas invest your time in something that really has the X Factor. You will get no satisfaction from Shayne Ward. Don’t get me wrong; he can sing and he’s very handsome but he can’t do miracles. And Steve Brookstein who?
I challenge those who are looking for a purpose to come to Kingsway Nursery on the 1st January at 11 o’clock and see what a difference the X Factor can make.
It seems that Christmas is a very lonely time for a lot of people out there. Those who have family members that they long to be with but can’t for one reason or another. Or those who don’t have any family left, or any friends for that matter. I am so fortunate to have a lovely family and lots of friends that I will spend Christmas with but it could still be a lonely time for me if I didn’t know the true meaning of Christmas.
We will be putting on a great Christmas service ‘The Xmas Factor’ on Sunday 18th Dec at the Sports Centre @ Lancaster and Morecambe college and we hope, or it seems that lots and lots of people will be there, we will have lots of fun and a great time but I wonder if it will eliviate any of the loneliness in some of the people who come. I reallly hope so and hope that they will take away with them the real message of hope that Christmas can bring. We are also doing a quieter more reflective service on the 24th @ West End Impact oh and on the 22nd we are doing something for our friends who come to the ‘Impact’ sessions on Thursdays and Sundays. Now I know that some of those people are very lonely and hungry and in very much need of hope. I was a bit disappointed that ASDA supermarket weren’t more helpful to us when we wrote to them asking for a food contribution for our homeless clients, I didn’t even get a reply saying no, never mind a donation. Why is it that the Rotary Club can get in there every year and ask everyone to donate food. Anyway back to message of real hope this Christmas!! That’s what we want to get across to everyone this Christmas in all that we do and all the different activities and festivities and ‘Xmas Factor’ or whatever we do, that Jesus came to the world to give people a way back to Him. A way to a life full of hope, grace, forgiveness, peace, joy, comfort, love, and much more. What God can’t offer us is nobodies business and I just don’t understand why people don’t grasp it. Well I hope they do this Christmas!!! Well I hope everyone that reads this has a wonderful joyful and hope filled Christmas God bless you all. Trace X
