We had a great visit last week from a guy called Gary Lamb. He has been walking round the coast of the British Isles since 1st April this year. He set of from Folkstone in Kent where he is the Youth Pastor of South Kent Community Church. He has been meeting loads of interesting people on his travels and last Wednesday and Thursday was our turn. He stayed with Jonathan for a night and told of all the wonderful miracles, and great situations he had been in along his travels so far, at Jonathans small group. I know he was a great encouragement to all who listened. He came down to our ‘Impact’ session on Thursday morning just for about half an hour but made a big impression on our friend Gary, who he basically told needed to have a relationship with God to get all his problems sorted out. Nothing like getting straight to the point. Then I took him to his next stop Ashton Hall Lancaster. From there he was walking to Blackpool about 23 miles I think. He was an amazing guy to meet and what a book it will be that he writes after he has finished walking in late January. Did anyone get a visit from Gary? If you want to put him up for the night he will be somewhere round Liverpool now and then he is heading on round Wales. He is always looking for host in churches around the country, and he is a real blessing when he comes. So many answers to prayer and the way that God is working in his life is just increadible. All the best and God Bless you Gary keep it up we’re praying for you.

No sex please we’re teenagers

Did anyone see the great programme on BBC 2 last night? It was the second of a series of three, about 2 Christian youth workers who have seen the problem of teenagers sleeping around and are doing something great about it. They have set up a ‘Romance Academy’ and have invited 12 teenagers (they call them disciples) to take part in discussions and seminars on why it is important not to have sex before you are married. They took them all on a trip to America to the church that founded an organisation called ‘The silver ring Thing’. The teenagers, of which only one is a Christian, visited a church youth service with great worship and a lively relevant message about, sex relationship and keeping yourself for marriage etc. It was just an amazing response of the teenagers. One even admitted that he had a touch from God and that the people around him who prayed for him and his sick mother, weren’t even told that his mother was sick. He was amazed that God had touched him in this way. This was on national television, it’s just great. Anyway there was not one teenager taking part in the project that found it to be a negetive experience although some of them didn’t find it right not to take the ‘Silver Ring oath’ which is a promise not to have sex till you are married. At least they were honest. They all said though how their whole perspective on sex and relationships had changed since they stopped having sex, and that they had more confidence and had more self worlth and they felt people respected them more. They also found it easier to build friendship and generally valued other people so much more. I think the ‘Romance Academy’ should get bigger and bigger and should spread over all of the country. Lets pray for these 2 youthworkers Dan Burke and Rachel Gardner that what they are doing is supported in every way possible. Financially and in pray and even by the government. I think it’s great - what do you think? Part 3 of the series is on BCC 2 Next Tuesday at 9.00 pm
